Personal Health Advocate
All First HSA accountholders have access to their own personal health advocate so there is no need to fear that your employees won’t be able to navigate the healthcare system with a consumer directed plan. Through a simple phone call, our clients have access to a 24 hour nursing hotline and access to health information on diseases and treatment options. Their personal advocate will inform them of options available for medical conditions such as cancer, diabetes, stroke and other illnesses. The advocate will assist with scheduling of appointments with specialists, transfer of medical records and even perform dispute resolution between the patient and their health plan. This benefit is for the accountholder, their spouse and all dependents.

First HSA Checks
First HSA understands the importance of having immediate
access to your HSA funds. That is why we provide 7 convenience checks that are mailed to you as part of your "Welcome Kit." These checks will provide immediate access to your account for that unforeseen medical expense.
Many HSA plans provide medical services through Preferred Provider Organizations or PPOs. When receiving treatment through a PPO network, HSA accountholders most often are not required to pay anything at the time of service. Therefore, it is important to have access to your accounts via check writing services. In addition to the 7 convenience checks provided at enrollment, First HSA provides the first set of initial checks that are automatically mailed to you 3-4 weeks after enrollment. These checks and their usage are free to our accountholders.

Contributions
For your convenience, First HSA provides several methods to make contributions to your HSA account. First HSA has no fees associated with any of our contribution methods.
1. Direct Deposit – This option allows accountholders to select the amount, the day of the withdrawal and the account they wish to withdrawal from. This option may be set up at anytime.
2. Contribution Coupons – Contribution Coupons are sent with every “Welcome Kit”. Use these coupons when mailing in a check for deposit to your HSA account. Contribution Coupons are free and can be reordered at anytime at no extra charge.
3. Employer contributions – Employers will determine the method of their contributions at enrollment time. The following options are available:
- Employer Contribution Worksheet – If an employer wishes to make contributions by mailing a check, they will be supplied with an Employer Contribution Worksheet. The worksheet will list all the employees participating in the plan and their contribution amount. The amounts will be totaled and one check will be mailed along with the worksheet.
- Direct Deposit – Employers may choose to have a pre-determined monthly amount withdrawn from their business checking account for each employee. This amount will be withdrawn on the day determined by the employer.
- Electronic Transfer (initiated by the employer) – An employer can choose to set up an Electronic Transfer from a business account. This option allows employers the freedom to make contributions when they want, for the amount they want and for the desired employees they want.
- Payroll Deduction- To set up payroll deduction, please contact First HSA.
4. HSAs allow both the employer and employee to contribute to the same account. In addition, HSAs may
be setup as part of a cafeteria plan. This allows employees to fund their HSA through a payroll deduction, excluding those funds from FICA and FUTA.
